Meet Our Team

James’s Biography: Howdy, y’all I am James Hagerty the Lab Operations Manager for the Tolbert Group. I got my training at the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland receiving both my bachelor’s and Ph.D. at Case. I worked with Emmitt Jolly for my Ph.D. studying how parasitic worms regulate protein translation during development. Cleveland is also home and a place that really grows on you once you’ve spent some real time there. I met Blanton while working on my Ph.D. and he has been a supportive mentor since then. My current role involves facilitating smooth operations and making sure the science can flow with reduced friction and barriers. I also get to utilize my expertise in bioinformatics and molecular biology to assist ongoing projects. The role also includes general mentorship of grad students, postdocs, and senior scientists which is the most rewarding part of the job. I am also a parent, a BMX biker, a very amateur forager, and a video game enjoyer. I think that is enough to share here and I look forward to doing impactful science with our wonderfully heterogeneous cohort of scientists.
